yo dudes.
I currently ride an orange evo 02 and enjoy it cos its nice and light. I'm replacing it with ( hopefully ) a 2007 orange crush.
does anyone own this bike and what do they think? any idea on the weight either as mine weighs less that 12kg and not sure if a much heavier bike would spoil my days with hard riding?
thanks for reading!

I tried one at an LBS and it feels like a beefed up XCer. If you're looking for that kind of thing then its perfect. If you want a hardtail with pure freeride intentions then look at Norcos.
Not sure how heavy it was but didn't feel like a tank. I'd say around 35-38lbs? So about 16-18kg.

The Crush is going to be heavy. I'd take a guess and say its going to weigh about 32-35lbs. If you think you can lug it then it will reward you on the downhills. Its a lot of heft though.

Cheers guys,
i'm looking for an xc bike really but am enjoying the more downwards direction, as my fitness isn't what it was and since i got my new motorbike i'm getting fat(ter).
my legs are strong so i should be alright on medium climbs.Floats like a butterfly and stings like my wee0 -
So you have about a grand to spend?
I'd be very tempted by this.
140mm travel Fox forks are going to be a lot smoother on the down hills that your Evo, yet its not nearly as weighty as a Crush.

yeah i looked at this one also, but the pro, then decided œ1000 was going to be my limit as i've spent loads recently and been told i need to put a stop to my impulse buying(wedding to save for). I also thought the crush might be more hard wearing as i fall off all of the time, maybe cos i'm just not that good.
Not too sure on the colour.
i'm still undecided about which bike to buy, but not many dealers have demos so not that easy to decide. My mates are hooked on the new felt's but they're american and i want to keep my money in Yorkshire so hence the 'orange' range.
otherwise i'd go for another giant.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Just an idea:
Dialled Bikes, Prince Albert frame: œ230
Revelation 409 dual air fork: œ250
Full Hone groupset œ325
Then you could get some pretty nice finishing kit for 200 notes. If you are handy with a spanner then it could be a decent way to do things.

the on one has a good read, something to consider.yet they've no stock left at the mo!
Cheers for the advice.

so is the shimano hone the way to go? better than xt?
and how would you rate the prince albert frame against my orange evo (6 years of torment and still no cracks!)
I'm an engineer by trade so tinkering with things is what i do.

Well its decent kit. Its the one below XT, but its tougher. If you haven't cracked your Evo frame then you wont break the XT groupset. But its cheaper than the XT and comes nicely in your budget.

its been a while since i last shopped for a mountain bike, i bought a tcr1 road bike last year, so different but similar spec stuff to mtb's.
if the quality of the hone setup isn't too far from the xt setup then yeah the extra œ75 could be well spent somewhere else.
-nice bike by the way,i've always been frightened of fs as they look heavy and make you bounce!
I think the self build is what i'm going to do.
