Hayes HFX Pads

A few weeks ago, I needed to replace my brake pads. I purchased some off ebay, but tbh they were awful. Theres no bite, and the levers are spongey.
The pads that came with the HFX's had a gold backing. Does anybody know what material these pads were ceramic/sintered? Also if anybody could recommend some good pads.

i did exactly the same thing,7 rides and the ebay cheepos were dead.
went back to originals.

if they are spongey it's not because of the pads-whatever the material. i'd stick to the original brand or ebc or goodridge- as with everything you pay for quality. haven't i seen this post somewhere else?
never grow up..... just find a bigger playground!
