If i was to replace a 3 amp fuse with a 13A fuse temporarily, would could/would happen?

th appliance would get too much current and blow up basically

Only if it's trying to pull too much current surely?

It's a paper shredder, that's stopped working and i can only find 13A fuses, unless i steal one from something else

as long as your use it then turn it off straight away and unplug it, i take no responsibility if you die in a house fire though.

it should work fine... The rating is only current at which it will blow the fuse. It will take alot more to kill the bigger value fuse, so you run the risk of damaging the shredder or yourself if there is any kind of fault. Swap it, but dont leave it like that.

Whats 12ft long?black and and has four people astride it?

if the machine works normally then there will be no problem.

but if it malfunctions the device will have no protection and things could melt. all a fuse does is limit the current an aplience/device can draw.

most paper shredders have a temperature swith inside of them (we found this out at work whilst trying to shred an aluminium spoke ruler!). if left for a couple of hours it willhave cooled down and start working again. at least it worked for ours...

The fuse is there for a reason if it blew the 3A fuse, it must have done it for a reason. i certainly wouldnt want to be touching it, bearing in mind 0.07 Amps across the heart is enough to cause heart failure.

It'll be fine, but if theres a fault then the fuse wont blow and your face WILL catch fire.
