these things last far longer than either of those 2, never managed to snap one unlike the others. No stupid joining pins or links.
œ30 well spent.

991. Never had a problem with Powerlinks.0
-
the power link always seems to be a weak point with me, chaindevices can catch on them and rip them open, they're good chains and fine on an xc bike but the rohloff is that bit tougher.
Never run a connex chain myself,I've always had them down as more xc chains, could be wrong though.

No problems with a Powerlink myself. Hasn't broken or snapped or anything like that yet, but I'm probably not as tough as 360 [:)]0

wouldn't change back now i've swithed to sram, don't have a chaindevice though so powerlink never been anything but helpful!

I've used Connex chains in the past and have been impressed.

I've never had an issue with powerlinks, and for convenience I would use them anyway.
We have a 971 thats pulled itself apart on another link though...

I think it was a sram 991 that i had explode on me, 2 weeks old and one of the pins snapped, ripped the whole link to bits and i went down like a sack of bricks.
EDIT - Had a look at the YBN Reluctant Mk9s2?

Sram chains, but i hate powerlinks, when youre on the trail and its covered in crap its near impossible to get undone! Gimme a splitter anyday!
And if Shimano found a better place to route the cable the mechs would be better... I cant stand the big hoop at the back.

I noticed CRC do those YBN chains, but know absolutely nothing about them, or what they are like?
Whatever I use will be linked with a powerlink though, purely for convenience!

My lbs persuaded me to try a KMC K9
I have to say the shifting is markedly improved over the SRAM chain i had previously

I generally bend the life out of them like an idiot but have never had a problem with them, long live the power link i say.

PC951. I've been using them for aaaages, never any problems. Fit them to practically every 9-speed bike that goes through the workshop, too (though not many get thrown down mountains).

Excuse my ignorance then, but how exactly do you get them on your bike?
for the past 9 years, I've always use Sachs chains, with the powerlinks, and never had a problem. However Sachs don't exist any more, so I've just recently switched to SRAM, and so far, so good.
I've snapped every Shimano chain I've ever owned before that though.

You push the almost all the way out then push it back again to rejoin, they're designed to be used in such a way.
Theres been plenty of people saying their sram chains are fine and Im sure for them they are. Im a big guy who racks up more dh runs in a year than most people do in 5 years, so I find problems quicker than most too. The rohloff chain is one of the few items i fit to all my bikes every year because I never have a problem with it.

Hmm, I think my next chain may well be a rohloff one then.
