hi all.
Looking to get some new XC wheels (rims and hubs) I have a budget of around 100 quid. I was looking a Chain reaction custom builds but it seems a minefield.
My current wheels are unbranded lead weights.
Criteria...
Im just under 15 stone (and dropping) 6'2"
I ride towpaths and swinley forest single track.
I run 2.1 cont. vapours.
Biggest jump is 1ft.
Obiously the lightest and strongest in the ton range.
(running avid discs, but who isnt thease days).
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Tux

Bulid a custom wheelset on merlincycles(http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/acatalog/Disc_Wheels.html) with xc717 or xm317 rims (717 being the better). with the XT 6 bolt hubs. they will be a strong set of XC wheels!0

Mavic 717's on XT hubs? A couple of my mates have them and they're very light wheels! (œ95 of CRC too)

Hmmm, Me thinks 717s and xt hubs.

I'm 12st and found my XC717's a bit 'weak' for aggressive XC riding.
I've recently ordered a set of XM719's on XT hubs from merlin, which although slightly heavier (extra 60g per wheel) are proving more resiliant - i.e. don't buckle every time I ride over a blade of grass
Same price as 717's BTW - from merlin<center><font size="1"><font color="navy">Lardy</font id="navy"><font color="blue"> | </font id="blue"><font color="navy">Madame de Pompadour</font id="navy"></font id="size1"></center>0 -
Good choice. XM719's are next on my upgrade list.

I would be looking at XT on 719 from Merlin. CRC good prices, but machine built wheels. Crossride are a good off the peg set, light, but hubs can't match the quality of XT IMHO.0
