Converting to Freeride

I'm planning on converting my Cannondale to a freeride bike, if possible.

It's quite a 'long' bike at the moment, so my first amendment would be to get a shorter stem, with this one in mind:

I'm considering changing the outter chainring to a bashguard as well, but this is less imporant and can be swapped and changed to my desire.
Other than that, I'm hoping to get front and rear set of Goodridge Brake Hoses, just for a little extra stopping power and to add a bit of individuality to the bike.
Does anyone have any hints or tips on making the ride a bit more comfortable and suitable for Freeride?
Thanks.
Scott

Really, I'd advise you to not try to convert a relatively lightweight XC bike into a freeride bike.
That stem wont fit those forks. I don't think even standard onepointfive stems fit c'dale's either - you need one of the Cannondale stems. IIRC, they do do them in pretty short (down to about 40mm).

seriouly the frame and especially the fork arn't really up to it , as they are designed purley for xc. if i were you i'd consider selling it and buying somehting a bit more suitable. a santa cruz cameleon would be perfect for you.

Ah, I've only just bought it!!
The question about the size of the stem was coming, so thanks for answering before I asked!
Thanks for the advice, perhaps I'll get another ride as well then.
If so, I would probably get a full suspension, any recommendations? I know for full suspension it'll be very hard to make it cheap, and I'll have to go 1250 upwards, will I?Cannondale Super Six Evo

To get a decent one which lasts, 1200 is the minumim really,
You can get good Norco HT's for about 700 though
