Well the forks are some carbon rigid forks. The main reason for buying them is a testing ground for carbon steerers so that I can look into the Reba WC [;)]

Carbon steerer? Jeez, don't know if i could trust that. Is carbon strong on multiple planes or is it vulnerable to twisting forces etc?

Thats basically what I aim to test. I'd rather find out the hard way on a set of 100quid rigids than a set of 500quid Reba's.

I'm guessing since RS have two forks with carbon steerers out now that they wouldn't do that without some serious testing going on.

I thought Carbon was Uber strong?
Althought, in the twisting forces, it would make sense if it did fail.

Carbon is strong, but i'm not sure if it's in all directions. It's woven from fibres, so there must be some drawbacks, apart from the fact it's expensive. Quite prone to crushing isn't it?

I believe so. Carbon steerer means use of a Hope Hed Doctor or similar product instead of a star nut. My Ritchey stem also has an angled slot cut into it to prevent crushing of carbon or lightweight alloy steerers. Need a lot of care when cutting also.

Are the rigids paces?

How much lighter is carbon than alu, because i have never really felt anything that is real carbon, as opposed to carbon wrapped alu.

They are the same forks as the Ritchey WCS just unbranded. Weight should be around the 500g mark.

My EC90 carbon risers are 134g. The EA70 riser bars are 220g.

Not sure about the new XT obviously but over the current XT yes. Ring have lasted far longer and from a cosmetic point of view they are greatly improved.

They are also noticably lighter.
Not sure about stiffness but having used mine with a 240s hub on a hardtail frame the pedal engagement is lightning fast and just goes like stink.

I'll most likely be on the Anthem if I come down to Cheltenham.

Yep. Rigids are on the way. Should be about 16.5lbs with them on.
