Thinking of buying 409's, I know they don't have a external 'Floodgate'.
1. What is a floodgate?
2. Do I need a External Floodgate?
3. Is it worth paying œ100 for an external 'Floodgate'?
I'm confused!! Thanks for the help

Nick, thanks for the speedy reply.
Yeah the floodgate is internal. But what is a floodgate? Is it worth paying œ100 extra for an external one?
Cheers Dai0 -
not worth paying more for the external adjuster.

Thanks Nick.
Looked at the website.... but it doesnt explain what an Internal/External Floodgate is or does. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

for the internal you need to use a tool like the rebound one in the bottom of the leg. for the external one you dont.

It does explain what it does in the manual. Its sets the threshold for the lockout ie what force is required to overcome the lock. Basically.

Thanks.
But what does the floodgate actually do? Is it a rebound/compression/travel adjuster... does it stop bottoming out... I'm confused with all the different companies terminology! Rockshox don't explain at all.

Thanks supersonic.... but I have yet to purchase the forks. Nice one.0

Its a useful and easy to use system. You have a progressive compression adjuster. When fully locked, the floodgate comes into play. You set the threshold. When adjusted properly, the bike will resist brake dive and pedal bob, but will be fluid over hits.

Apparently its good for 4x racing, as you can lock it out for a quick start, but it will blow out when you hit the jumps.
