I am thinking about buying these: https://www.betd.co.uk/product_list.asp?CategoryID=119
(shimano Crank bolt)(like El Cappy's without the personalisations)
Just wondering as i have Hones if I should get the LX bolt size or the XT/XTR bolt size. Also you think they are worth it or just stick with the nylon thingy you get originally...

Being able to adjust it with an allen key is worth œ9 alone. The thing that comes with the cranks is abysmal!

Yeah. This one means you need the stupid bit of metal to tighten it instead.

It's a tool that comes as standard with a product, people don't like them.
No matter how good they are people will complain, then buy a park tool for œ15 to do the same job.

  • Now you put it that way.

I was also thinking of getting a metal one anyway, i got the plastic one with the saints, and if i upgrade to a metal one might aswell get one where i don't need to buy the tool aswell.

If you're going to do that you should probably get the inside of the crank axle thingy painted reddy brown as well.

Turns out, if you have the tools for taking the piston caps off your Hope brakes, they work rather well also.
