i am looking for some new forks for my mairn b17. it currently has manitou splice '05 (130mm travel). i want something with similar amount of travel, if not more. my budget is around œ250. i do genral biking, bit of xc, trails and maybe a few jumps, and need something that'll take a good thrashing. i have been looking at rock shox pikes and they look really nice, also revalations. i saw some marzocchi z1 eta's on merlin cycles for œ225 they seem really good to me.
thanks [:D]

get some pikes they are great (i have some), remember though you'll need to buy a new front hub though.

Hmm, Pikes arnt the strongest, but they feel lovley and are fairly light.
Z1s seem good, but I've never ridden them.

Pikes will be plenty strong for the application. You will need a new hub if you want a fork with a 20mm axle though.
Go for Revelations if you don't want to splash out on a new wheel build.

i couldnt be bothered with a new hub and rebuilding the wheel...
i think the revelation is the one to go for. i noticed there are many different specs, such as 'coil u-turn' and 'air u-turn' and some others... what are the advantages of them and which one is the one to go for?[:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]0 -
Ridden Z1's. Plan on going up the hill? Don't waste your time on them. All Mountain 3's 230 something on Winstanleys. Have a pair, brilliant, light and have the lockout for the climbs. Can take a fair beating too and 140 travel is right up your street.

they look good!
i see they dont have a 20mm axle either...!
i dont want to get a new hub and stuff cause that would be too much hassle and cost money, so its the revelations against the all mountains, unless anyone else can suggest any others ...?0 -
Revelation is very light for its 130mm of travel, and the motion control damper is fool proof.

do all the different models have motion control damping? or is that the top of the range one? i'd like to keep the price under 250 if possible . . .0

Have a look at the RS website for all the options on this fork.
