Hi guys and gals,

Looking at making a new Jump bike (Much rather make it, More custom...) basics im looking for are:

24" wheels
Small-ish frame about 14"
Preferably Marzocchi forks
Single speed
28t crank set not bothered about normal or 3 piece etc.

And some preferances, but not essentials are:

Clicky hub
100mm travel forks
Not Kona frame
Colour ful frame, eg. Lime/Irish Green, Dark Red, and poss black, but can be boring.

I hope all this helps, and just to refresh:

œ600 budget but can stretch a bit more, (earning œ120 a month)

Jump bike

Looks cool [:p]

Cheers

dan

I would sooo much rather build a bike up, and you get much more for your money.

I would be looking at getting alot of bits off ebay, so that might help. second hand being cheaper etc.

    thanks

what about the rhythm? if you arnt planning on selling it for funds, you could take a few bits of that, like your stem

no, I brought it for œ310 off ebay last year and just worn it down loads since then, and now some noob wants it, and theyll happily pay œ350 for it so thought, id go for that and build up a new bike.

but good thinking anyways, thanks also dirtjumper3200

  • You won't get anything decent custom for œ600 unless you go secondhand for somethings.

yer like shadow conspiracy says with that much of a budget you will have to alot alot of parts second hand. a decent new frame is probably going to be nearly half your budget gone!

ok then, this seems like quite a hard topic to answer, and nobody has a spec yet...

so il try a spec, and see what you guys think of it.?

    here we go:

    - Dmr rhythm frame, then probably get sprayed professionally in Irish green.

    - Marzocchi Dirt jumper 3's or save up more and get 1's

    - Halo tornado / Atomlab trailpimp DHR rims on Dmr revolver or halo spin doc.

    - Dmr ltd. edition seat

    - Gusset pygmy crank

    - Dmr moto digger tyres

    - Dmr wingbars and ? headlock ? stem

    - Dmr zip grips

    - Kona Jacksh*t pedals

hows that sound, i think its about right for price.

  • Well, it's alright, the frame, wheels and forks are sound choices but i would say the rest needs to be changed.

    Get a macneil saddle/seatpost

Profile cranks or Saints if Euro BB

normal Moto or Twin Rail tyres.

Gusset Open prison bar, any BMX stem.

    ODI longneck grips

Gusset Slim Jim pedals seem to be popular

You'll need a brake, headset , chain etc too.

If you give me a bit i'll have a cruise over to SDH and go on CRC and see what i can spec you up.

EDIT: This seems like it would be ideal. œ400, so you would have money left to change things you don't like. You will need to sign up to Southern Downhill to view the thread
