The 'Find Tom cheap car insurance' challenge!

Im after a different car to replace the Landy (*insert abuse here*).

Im 19, im after getting a 1996/99 Polo 1.4 16v 3dr for about œ2000, i have 1 years no claims, no points or convictions.
Cheapest i can find is œ1523 from Liverpool Victoria fully comp, most of the big companies wont insure me till im 21. Group 10 FTL.

Insurance sucks the big one.

œ789 this year in my own name, FTW. Ive had fun in it TBH, but im bored of offroading, its not fast enough, and commuting in it and driving long distances isnt the best either. It also makes up for the cheap insurance by using about œ30/week fuel...

you could try some of the specialist ones out the back of car mags, ya know 'so you're 11 and have just bought an M5, we'll insure you'.
I know a fella who went with one for an RS focus as nobody would touch him and by all accounts they were spot on, and 'happy' to pay out when the inevitable happened and he pranged it. can't remember the name though which is helpful...some of them look super dodgy though, i'd be wary.

If you want to go really cheap you can go directly to the broker. Personally I don't know any but if you search about and do find their details they should be able to offer you cheaper insurance as it cuts out the middle man.

Be aware of the lack in customer support from them though as they just do the business side of things.

Tescos is actually not bad. I use them, and managed to get a policy for œ450 insteadd of the œ650 - œ850 I was quoted by every other company.

When I was getting online quotes it turned out that they make a load of assumptions about how many other cars are in your household and where the vehicle is kept and the like, so they can get the quote cheap as possible. If you just buy the online quote then your insurance can be invalid.

Not saying online quotes are a bad idea, just make sure you phone and sort the exact details rather than buying online straight away.

If you stil live at home, and one of your parents has no convictions and a full no-claims, get them on the policy as a second driver. Brings it down a load too.

Insurance is affected by how many people have claimed in your postcode so you might just be unlucky, pick a relatives postcode to try it out? and as for insurance groups, they change with different companies, my xsi was group 10 with one 11 with another and then 6?!... as for insurance try http://www.frizzell.co.uk and for a good broker try http://www6.marksandspencer.com/pages/default.asp?PageId=home&Product=CI
