Biking in California

Hi there!
Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes anyway.
We are going over to California this August for 3 weeks and we will be taking the bike with us. Flying into San Fran and back from Vegas. We will have a car so travelling won't be a problem.
I an just after advice on where to go, what areas have the best trails, how hard will it be, how hot etc. etc.
