weird sound from my brake

i run a single brake out back - a juicy 3. when i pull the lever the brake makes this weird sound. it sounds as if the rotor is about to break or the bolts are going to rip out of the threads...
i really can't explain it properly, but im sure its not meant to happen! before you ask, yes i have checked all the bolts!
also i weight just over 13 stone, and my brake has a 160mm rotor.
could it be that the brake is "struggling" to stop me as such?! or is this a stupid idea...

good condition, the brake has only been on my bike for about 3 or 4 months, with average use...ie there is still plenty of pad left

ah good point about the hub bearings. the cones do seem to loosen up quite often, and they are only shimano deore hubs (which are good, but ive had problems with them from day 1).
cheers nick

Not the spokes catching on the calliper when the wheel flexes? My bros does the same.
