hi im looking to buy a hardcore hard tail that i can use for every apect of riding..... trails, dj, dh xc, park, slopestyle, but it has to be have adjustable travel and compression forks so i can set them rock for the uphill on the trails.

26" wheels are a must for me.
as are the adjustable forks

my budgets around the œ1000-œ1500 also the bike has to be a complete

thanks =)

Balfa.co.uk and look at 243 hardtails, Norco, Orange Subzero S, or if you were considering full suss:

    http://www.24sevenbikes.com/MESSIAH.html

...is a slopestyle specific build, with a good spec for the money.

i think the talas's have adjustable travel so you can set them at like 100/130/150mm incrimants (sp?)

They are quite heavy though. But other than that they are rather nice.

the subzero is WAY underspecced compared with that .243. the bigfoot is a bit crap really and the manic is ok.

your choice should be between the manic and .243, in my eyes the .243 wins hands down, but meh.

Yeah 2007 Norcos aren't quite as nice as the older ones.

    .243 wins.

My problem trying to find a 'do all bike' was mainly gear ratios.

The 44t chainring and longer cranks on my Rockhopper kept hitting the ground when I was doing the Xup track at blandford. Cannot get a bashgaurd that size either!

Doing XC on a jump bike I find the lack of an outer chainring frustrating and slow. Long straight singletrack is great at speed but dull with only piddly little rings to choose from...

You may be happy to comprimise in the direction you prefer to do most, but for that amount you could consider a œ750 XC hardtail for all round use (kona, specialized, etc) and then have œ750 to play with on a jump bike and play around with 24" wheels, single speed whatever you fancied without worrying how it will tackle everything else you throw at it...

just some thoughts based on what I might do with the cash.

I know, where do they all ride it? What with there been no slopestyle in the UK really.

You will not find a bike that does all of those well, It'll either ride well at
    DJ and Park
    Slopestyle and DH
    Trails and XC
You need to think what you ride most and tailor the bike to that.
Or spend œ1000 on a decnent HT like a Kona/Spec/Norco etc
Then use the œ500 left to buy a DMR/Charge/Flow complete.

at the moment i ride everything on an xc bike, DH, freestlye , bit of slopestyle, trails, and some dj and street... i really wont a bike that i can use thrash about on the trails, then ride a bit of dh/freestyle then can use for a good session on the dirtjumps...and use for slopestyle when ever i get the chance

what do you think of the santa cruz chameleon or the cove stiffee for an all rounder bike?

also can you buy a cove stiffee as a complete or do you have to buy the frame and then build it up?

Chameleon. Don't think you can buy the Stiffee as a whole bike, may be wrong though.

The Rocky Mountain Flow Raw is worth a consideration. It's perfect for dirt jump and freeride and also rides xc suprisingly well. I bought it for œ595 and then upgraded the brakes and gears. I was on more of a budget than you so you would be able to change the fork as well and still be within your price limit. The rest of the spec is good and it really can handle any type of riding.
