Right.
Basically i really want a ps3. Spent well over a year saving for one and have been met by many forums and reviews having a go at the ridiculously high price (in comparison to the xbox 360) but personally the xbox 360 doesnt cut it for me so i am set on a ps3.

So...i've been shopping on t'internet for ages and have come across a compatability issue with games and my TV. As i understand there is 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p (in order of quality for TV's). Now, this... http://www.lcdprojectoronline.com/h50.html is the projector i have. Says it's 720p and 1080i.

I was first of all just wondering,
will it play all the games?
And
Will the quality be gooooooooood?
Cheers guys (i am just totally lost on all of this. Have been reading loads of things bout quality of tv's but not sure bout compatibility of games etc with my projector)

i heard something bout it doesnt work (by doesnt work i mean it downscales it to bad quality like 420p) if ur tv does 1080i but not 720p and apparently that is still only due to a bug. IS this true?
    Cheers

    most ps3 and xbox360 use 1080i resolution
none i know of use 1080p yet.
  • Jesus, I hope for your sake it doesn't downscale to 420p, you may as well just get a Nintendo Wii if that's the case. I'm not sure though, Nicklouse will probably know though.

Hey, I handly have a sony catalouge next to me, and it says, There are three different HD formats 1080i, 1080p and 720p. The 1080p is the best format to use as the PS3 delivers images in 1080p. 1080i is just as good but the way the picture is made up is different.

  • All games, yes. Why would the game make a difference?

it's just cos i dont want any of them getting downscaled to poor quality. I've clearly got incredibly confused but i was reading things earlier which said that if ur tv isnt compatible then it downscales it to a much lower quality. In which case...i wont buy it!

It depends on the game. For instance resistance runs at 720i but gt5 runs at 1080. Its down to the developers to set the resolution that they want you to view it at. Most decent tv's should say when they receive a change in resolution on the screen somewhere.

are you sure its about the game? Im led to believe that the PS3 always dispays the best resolution that you're tv can display?
