Jammed maxle 360

Howdy,
I'm having issues trying to get the front wheel off my bike. I have Rockshox Pike 409 forks. When realeasing the maxle and unsrewing the maxle, firstly it is very stiff and it will spin round until it clicks. After that it seems to spin and click and will not come out at all!
Any ideas would be appreciated! the last resort would be to hacksaw through the side of the maxle and then pick out the pieces but i don't fancy that.
