If I was going above 2k for a second hand bike id just save more and buy the bloody thing new

So given the option of buying a 4k bike second hand for two grand, you wouldn't?

(i'm not saying that bike is worth 4 grand, it's hypothetical)

But it seems stupid when you could get a TOTR bike for half of it's RRP and you say you would save up and buy new?

Long story, short version;

Bought it for bits, couldn't be arsed, was going to take to France as a spare bike, sold it for a small profit due to impending house sale & rather large Stamp Duty bill!

There really isn't much left to do to the Nicolai, maybe some new XTR cranks & a Ti spring. Thats about it. After riding both though, I still prefer the Nicolai, yeah I might not be able to rinse it down a big mountain for 2 weeks of a year quite as fast, but i'll sure as hell have more fun on it [:)]

If you buy the complete World Cup bike...

However, it would probably be more if you started with the Factory frame, as its the only one thats not made in Taiwan & was rumoured to be 1lb lighter than all the others (WC included).

IH/Monster rode Factory frames dressed up as World Cup bikes.

Not sure if thats the case now, but it was up to the '07 frames.
