My coursework (ish)

I call it coursework, but its not. Its more of "you started late so you have to do it"

I've written this:
I wake up and all is silent. This is very familiar. This is my world. The thing is I was born deaf. I never got to hear the birds sing, I never got to hear my mother voice calling my name. I don't dwell on it; I just live with what I have got.

People played cruel jokes on me; sometimes I would be silly and fall for them. One time that always is stuck in my head. I was hovering and my brother had turned the hoover off and because I couldn't hear it I thought it was fine and carried on. He then proceeded to tell me that the hoover wasn't on and I shouted I know.

People always feel sorry for when I saw I'm deaf, I just think don't be. I haven't really lost anything because I never had it in the first place. What did I lose? Maybe I can't hear the birds, but I can still see them. Maybe I can't hear my mother, but I always have her love.

Please don't feel sorry for me.

I was just wondering if people would comment on it?

Also, gramatically, its a bit weird with the thoughts/speech. Not sure if this is intentional

I would:

Para2:

Or I just think they shouldn't.

 I haven't really lost anything through being deaf because I never had hearing in the first place.
What did I lose? - sounds a little detached, but I can't think of a better way of doing it right now.
