yes and no, but say i was moving and needed to keep my drum kit somewhere, and i said it would only be for a week. The person who has it is fed up with having it so gives me an email saying "move it" I don't get the email and a week later find its been sold. I'd go a bit spare.
Even with out the example inless you know the law on it (witch I don't) Then i need more information to say how long i think is right.

Kitty, looks like he ain't comming back for it. If you emailed him with no responce then give it another week.

Oh, and legally it's dubious, but posession is 9/10s of the law. Send him an email saying you're gonna sell it if he doesn't either collect it within a week or give a valid reason he can't collect it, keep a copy of the email, leave it two weeks then sell it.
