Has anyone here actually read The Satanic Verses? I gave up three quarters of the way through (and I hate not finishing books) but I honestly couldn't stand one more page of psuedo-mumbo-jumbo about this and that and hey we're following the demonic minion character on a beach with an old woman and now we're in a hospital where he's seeing goat-men and apparitions this is cool oh no wait we're off to bumfuckland where we follow a pilgrimage for HALF THE CHRISTING BOOK and they're prattling on and on and on and on and...

It wasn't terrible per se, just really long-winded and obscure. I've heard good things about Midnight Children, I might give that a shot and hopefully SIR RUSHDIE can be redeemed in my peurile mind

Yeah, but this is one of the few things where there isn't even the notion that we as the people had anything to do with the choosings.
