Which bike? (on a tight budget)

Hi there,
I am posting on here for a friend.
He is wanting hardtail, with disks all round. And obviously a good setup. He will be using it for some 'moor' tracks, no jumps or anything like that. and also abit of road use!
He is on a budget of œ300-œ330
I was thinking of maybe a last years model. I bought a Giant XTC for œ400, down from about œ500-œ550, purley because it was a past model.
I am sure you always get questions like this, but i hope you can help
Thanks
Tom

im not sure but i think most people on here will recommend saving a bit more and getting a specialized hardrock, its not my specialist area, but there are a lot of thread like this recently and the general suggestion is hardrock.

try not to post long links, use tinyurl.com if you dont uderstand forum code
anyway, like i said, its not my area, but for œ300 i should think it will do the job.

Sorry, i am just not very good when it comes to bikes! Just enjoy riding them0 -
To be honest he won't need disk brakes for that usage. That means he could get a bike which is better spec'ed elsewhere.
At that price the Specialised Hardrock (the sport version has disk brakes if he insists upon them) and the GT Aggressor you posted are both good sound choices.

Possibly the best sub œ300 bike there is...
œ290 Mongoose Tyax Elite (WMTB bike test winner, tough alloy frame,24 spd, mechanical discs and adjustable damped fork)
