just been flicking trough pinkbike and saw this set up:
http://www.pinkbike.com/news/224-build-2007.html
some weird choices and some things that have made me wonder where you guys stand on his choices.
- flat bars: probably the weirdest choice for a dh rig, sure theyre wide and have the sweep of a riser so it seems a good idea but why run such a high stem if he wants a low front end?
-direct mount stems: i reckon theyre a good idea, lower weight and lower front end if done right but they do mean its more likely to twist forks in a crash, some are just as heavy as a stem and top crown, and surely it invalidates warranties if using the type that replace the top crown (ie goldtec, burgtec)?
-isis cranks: since most people love saints etc it was weird to find someone so against them. are you all convinced outboard bearings are the way forward?
there are a few weird choices like rims and his fork setup but they arent so unusual so i'll leave it. but what do you guys think the set up? thought id post here as its busier than general or tech
