Folks,
my pedals are heading for the pedal graveyard as they've done their job and i'm in the market for a new pair.

Greeg, It dosen't really matter too much if your only commuting is what people are saying.
Get some light and grippy ones, "beartrap" or "cage" design are popular on commuters as the offer good grip, but minimal material for weight saving. As Nick said, go have a look at your Local Bike Shop (LBS) And choose what apeal to you, he never mentioned anything about the cheapest!

you only need to worry about 'what type' of pedel if your doing a certain type of riding, i.e XC, Jumping, DH etc... cause there are different types for different thing.
But then i use DMR V8 some say they arent the 'correct' type i should have but then who cares, they work for me so why should I not use them.
Get whatever you like the feel of. But then if its commuting and going fast you like then get SPDs as it'll help with the fast bit.......DaZeD aNd CoNfUsEd....0 -
but SPDs will mean him having to get new shoes as well...

I commute with SPD pedals. IIRC Halfrauds has some Wellgo ones for about œ8.

Cheap pedals with toe clips FTW. Seriously I recommend them, saves you having to get spd shoes.

Well i'd say spds are all you should get for commuting. I was commuting 200 miles a week in the summer, spds are so much better you wouldn't believe it. If you really want flats buy some wellgo MG-1, great grip and very light and there is a guy who sells them really cheaply on ebay.

I bought cheap and crappy, ended up with 28 stitches in my leg due to the sharp pegs.
When buying pedals, buy gooduns or risk plenty of A and E visits.
