I rode a Giant Reign today and discovered I had bought the wrong bike. I dodn't realise how shocking the grip was on my SX until then. Now after closer inspection I have discovered that I am running a 400 coil instead of the 300 needed. Doh! So I either buy a new coil or the equivilant amount of food for 4 stone extra to my weight. You choose!

I did consider the Reign. They had one at this open day that could have been set up for me and wheeled away tomorrow. Im thinking the price of Fox coils is stupid. I heard Manitou ones fit, c'est vrai ou c'est faux?

OK, I'm obviously going to go with the new spring. Apparently I need a 304 for "Plush DH". Thats assuming my shock stroke is 2.75. It's labelled 2.8 but that's the distance the coil can compress before it becomes coil bound, am I right? So therefore I can just use a 300 x 2.75? Or would I have to use a 300 x 3.0?

300 X 2.75 would be fine.

A manitou/5th/DHX 300 x 2.75 is ideal (this is the length that the bike's supplied with)
A manitou/5th/DHX 300 X 3 will fit.

Jamie, I told you when you bought the bike that you needed to change the spring. What's the point in spending a grand on a frame if you've not bothered to set it up? You might as well buy something crap/heavy/short/giant.

I remember us having this discussion a while back when I couldn't keep my SX on the ground. I only presumed I had a 350 and back then I weighed a few kilos more so both of us came to the conclusion that it was fine as it was. I'll speak to TF today and get a spring ordered ready for the weekend. I worked out that I would have to weigh an extra 4 stone for the bike to be right for me, thats so much!

Just looking around I might get one of these.
