Hey,
Bought a hardrock about a month ago and pretty chuffed, (im only a beginner to serious riding). Me and a few mates planning a trip to wales in august and thinking of upgrading the forks, obviously dont really wanna spend much more than œ150 as the bike was only œ350!, But im no expert so any reviews, advice or helpful links would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Sometimes it overheats. You have to make sure it's in a ventilated place all the time.

just read reviews and seems a good choice, although current forks have 100mm of travel is losing the 15mm gonna affect performance in the situations ill be riding?(obviously new forks are much better quality though)
As i said before im pretty new to it all so i wont be goin too crazy, but i can jump a bike and like to think we could be doin some pretty rapid stuff in wales. Waddya reckon? If it means payin abit more....

Im running discs but surely there would be bracket/fitting kit as most people run discs?!
Im pretty mechanical so could i fit the forks myself or would you recommend taking them to a specialist ( local bike shop is pretty sound)

Plenty of postmount adapters. Finding the right one for the brake is definitely a LBS jobby.

  • You don't need an adaptor for a 160mm disc which is what you have. the brake just bolts directly onto the fork without the original adaptor

as it happens, I have MX comps on mine, my mate has the tora's. Although the lockout is nice to have, the mx's are lighter and perform better. Get them if you want proper bump absorption

sweet, cheers bud have heard better reviews about marzocchis generally.
Quite a price hump though. Is it worth gettin a new 06 fork, as ive just been lookin and it could save me a fair bit. Which models do you have?

He will need an adapter, as the mount on the RSTs and on the brakes is IS mount, the MX Comps have post mount, so he would need an IS to Post adapter.
    What make/model are the brakes?

He won't need an adptor, he'll just have to remove the adapter (post mount to IS) that came fitted.

    WD-40? GT-85?? I'd rather use the old AK-47!
  • Just had rockshox revelations fitted to my hardrock 07. You'll not regret changing the forks :-)

mine are 2003, his are 2006's iirc. mine are still better, and lighter. and with the weight of the hardrock frame, you'll want to save weight wherever you can
