the prices on powdercoating in my area are just stupid i got a quote on a frame the other day . it was only black and tried charging me œ50 . i found out it cost nowhere near that to do it . what prices have you heard on a frame or things to be poiwdercoated

And you say it does cost that much to do... You really think that the company is gonna charge the same as it costs to do? Thats not how it works mate. What frame? If its a full sus then id say œ50 is cheap.

You obviously know fu<u></u>ck all about what you're talking about. œ50 is standard/cheap for a frame. Do it yourself, get a gash job, but don't come crying to us. I sprayed mine myself and it came out rather good, but no-where near like a pro.

œ20 in paint. OK, so they are just going to do it for free, spend maybe hours on it for free. Think about it, they are only making parhaps œ20 profit, espicially with the paint they use. So please, shut the .. up and GTFO

For the bighit that i built and then sold, it was œ20.
"Express coatings" I think it was in sheffield, just off the wicker. 0114 279 5606.

But that doesn't include sandblasting (which is necessary to do prior to powdercoating) which was another œ30.

There's hardly any labour in it, all they have to do is hang it up in a room and switch it on. But it depends if you want an obscure colour that no other things are being done of that colour that week, they'll have to switch the machine on and use up a load of powder just for you, which is why it may be dearer. Phone round a few places.

a local welding shop bead blasted an old GT of mine once and powder coated it for me.
they charged œ30 for a silver coating.
but it was about 5 times too thick a coat, with no laquer ...so tarnished quickly and was a pain fitting all componants back on.

you pay for what you get ...and œ50 sounds about right.

iirc, argos does paint jobs for nearly œ80.
Stop bit<s></s>ching. Put up with the colour, or pay for it to be changed.
