its the rotor not the caliper

YES ALIGN THE CALIPER AND THAT WILL STOP THE DISC BEING MOVED BY THE CALIPER.
Ok?

sorry you dont get me .the floating rotor is two seperate pieces riveted together, the first piece fixed to the hub dosnt move the peice fixed to that moves forward when i pull the brake.

so how is the steel braking surface moving in relation to the carrier? i am would love to know.
the only other posiblity is a sticky piston. but you dont mention anything about lazy pistons.

Nick, i think he means the spider carries on rotating with the hub when the pads are clamping the steel braking surface still. Im guessing this is normal for two piece rotors, unless they havent been riveted properly, which i doubt.
jumpinjack, if you mean the braking surface moves left to right when you apply the brake, this is normal to an extent, they 'float', hence 'floating rotor'. It also takes up any slight error in doing so. If it flexes the whole rotor, then yes, align the calliper! [:D]

How much do they move?
Hub bolts tight?
Calliper bolts definately tight?
Pads moving?

now that is a much clearer description of the problem when compared to the first post.
there does tend to some play on the floaters. but it sounds like your could be worse than some. i know people on here whose developed that much "play" they binned them for solid ones. i would get in contact with hope and expresse your displeasure with their rotors. Unfortunatly it does seem to happen to a few.

The hole point about floating rotors is that they can move. When they get old especially if there not looked after you will get some minimal rotational play as well as lateral. Its is not a problem and your brakes will still work. If the steel braking surface (the rotor) is actually separating from the alloy centaur (the dell) then there is a problem. But if its just floating around but still attached its doing what it is intended to do. If you do not like it get solid discs. Its as simple as that really.0

Which in this case was not. for any brake disc movement issue aligning the caliper will stop the movement. But the movement in this problem was not made clear. now if the issue had been made cleare...
what people forget is no one can see the proble except them so either use lots of words or take a picture.
after the picture and a few words the issue was identified and answers came.
So yes i have issues with crap questions.

well, it wasn't that cryptic is it?
seriously, take a chill-pill!
Incidentally, what was the thing about pouring water on his discs? I presume that was mentioned on another thread?

why does no one use search engines on this forum, its like the radio, same 6 questions on repeat.
one reason that makes me annoyed on here, nick has the patience of a saint, after years of noob questions, i'd have gone on a killing spree or just moved forums,
