Avid Juicy 3 probs...

Ive just taken my front wheel out to get it re-trued along with my back one.
Im now trying to put my front wheel back on because Im taking it to Halfords tomorow and it just doesn't want to go back on...
Ive tried prizing the pads apart, sanding them and they just keep sticking.. [:(!]
Anyone know what I can do or should I just let Halfords sort it out?

i don't know the juicy 3's very well, but do you have an adjuster on the lever to wind the pads back out. If not it may be there is too much fluid in the system, but this seems unlikely if they were ok before.

you probably couldn't go into second anyway. Back on topic, have you tried being a bit more gentile and putting it in properly? rather than jumping in at the deep end and sanding the pads

I think there is an ajuster but its a star shape thing, and I don't have the tool...
Yeah course I've tried that.
It didn't work...

How did you sand the pads if they were stuck together?
You need to take them out and push the pistons back in with a tyre levers or carefully with a flat screwdriver, probably with the master cylinder cap taken off by the sound of it.
In future make sure not to pull the brake lever with the rotor out, or plug the gap with a widget.0 -

It sounds like the pads have just moved slightly together..So your disc will not fit.

I need them out to push the calipers apart so the disc will go into the pads.

I remember reading that you get a flat headed screwdriver and gently prize them apart or something similar..

And remember to pull on the levers a couple of times to pump up the brakes when you are done.
I had the shock of my life yesterday morning when I got to the bottom of my road....Stumpy, Rockhopper (stolen!) & custom SX Trail II - that should do it!0 -
