So, <s>I</s> my friend wants to get Cubase SX off the internet for free. How could he go about doing that? BitTorrent?

Have you looked for the torrent? If theres one then yes if you have a week or so for it to download.

The 3.5GB looks like video tutorials, and im pretty sure Cubase SX3 is the ones around the 120mb/130mb mark. I'm using bitcomet and its going at a good 70kb/s.
Secondly, how large is my chance that it contains a virus(es)?

On torrentspy there are user comments below the downloads, Read those and see what people have said about the program, Can also help if you have issues with geting some programs going to read the comments.
