i need help stripping down my suspension fork

its a marzocci z5, i want to swap the 50mm springs for 19mm to get 100mm of travel. but i cant figure out how to get the threaded bits off (circled in the pic)

Not entirely sure about the z5's but in the RS forks i know you don't change the spring, you just use a spacer to limit the travel of the spring, might want to try phoning one of the servicing companies.

Those spacers *should* unscrew if you pull them down while turning them counter-clockwise.

is the pull down and unscrew cap thing not being made anymore? or was it just on that model?

its not screwed or crimped on, its a push fit i just twisted it off.0

odd. but as there were 4 different types made over 3 years.
i guess then that yours are the plain Z5 not the alloy/flylight or the Qr20?

ok i now have a problem i sheared the foot nut bolt. whats the part called? the thing in the pic? and how much would i expect to pay for a replacement?0

you had me worried there, iv emailed windwave fingers crossed they still have replacements. if not im going to have to bodge them somehow.
if the stud screwed in the pumping rod then i could go to an engineers and raid there scrap bin.
all this happened cos i was in a hurry and i put the sliders in backwards!0 -
lesson 1 learnt, if it is worth doing take your time.
there could be a good chance of picking up a complete fork for not much on flea-bay.

yep very true always take your time and never ever drink and do work on your bike/car, just checked ebays no z5s a few z1s. how are the z5 lowers different to other marzocchis? might be interested in looking into buying one of them cartridges from a high end fork0
