Hi, i have a Giant XTC SX for a bout a year and a half now and the tyre treads are worn down to sh*t. I like to go riding with my mates doing a bit of dirt jumping and all sorts. I need some tyres that will do the job but wont tear a great hole on my pocket money wise.

Suggestions please

cheers

    A) Why are you Dirt Jumping on an XC race hardtail?
    B) How much DJing do you do compared to Trail riding?

Knobbly tyres aren't so good for DJ, you don't need it and it will damage the jumps. However, DJ specific tyres will be crap on the trails. Answer the first two questions and you should get a good recommendation.

maybe because he cant afford 2 bikes?

anywhoos, i use one of these on the back and one of these on the front, and i'd recommend either, as i use the bike for a range of riding and they grip fine

Even if that is the case. i would strongly advise against jumping that bike. it really is asking for trouble.

I run Panracer XC Fire Pro 2.1's on my XTC. They are an XC/Trail tyre, but are pretty grippy in all conditions.

As has already been said, I would advise against DJing an XTC. The frames are designed for XC racing (and as such are very light). It will snap if you continue to use it for jumping.
