Was that UK comment aimed at me? If so, many degrees are Major/Minor. I for example am doing a Major in Marketing and Minor in Business Management. Even if he is doing one subject, he's still majoring in that subject. Its not just an American thing.

ddoogie: it was just a general MChem degree. I didn't bother to specialise in drug discovery (the only other option or Masters students) because you just end up limiting yourself later on if you specialise that early.
sjdrinfo: I'm staying on to do a PhD. The corporate world just doesn't appeal to me at all, so this is about the best option I can find.
Mr. Fox: are you at a Scottish university by any chance? The US system of majors and minors is based on the Scottish system. I've never talked to anyone at an English university who talked about their major and minor.0 -

Good point. Yes. I did one of them, making drugs funnily enough. I wasn't discovering them though, just figuring out good ways to make them.
