Hiya,
So, finally 'narrowed' (as far as I can!) my choice down to 5 bikes:
A - Specialized Hardrock Sport Hydraulic Disc 2007 Mountain Bike (œ400)
http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70058
B - GT Avalanche 2.0 Disc 2007 Mountain Bike (œ400)
http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70223
C - Pinnacle Evolution 1.0 2007 Mountain Bike (œ550)
http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70728
D - Kona Blast Nine 2007 Mountain Bike (œ550)
http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70183
E - Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc 2007 Mountain Bike (œ550)
http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70056
As you can see I've given quite a lot of bikes consideration and as I'm new to the extensive world of mountain-biking I would really appreciate your feedback. What's the best bike there for the money? Is the Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc worth an extra œ150 for the better components? What's a good compromise of value and performance?
Are there any other definite contenders I'm missing out?
I'm wanting to rip round my nearby forest and bike trail.
Many thanks,

couldn't say about the others but rarther than getting the avalanche 2.0 get your self the 2006 avalanche 1.0 The hydraulic brakes on the 2007 are pants and not worth considering and you get rockshox forks with the 2006 1.0 plus its cheaper.
Though, the 2007 has a new frame?
Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc 2007 looks the best buy if you want a bike to be rough with.0 -
giant xtc 4.5 but out of the 5 eyou've picked i would choose CHe who fishes in another man\'s well often catches crab.0
