Fitting a rear disc? No Mount!
HIGHTOWER
Posts: 8
Right, I bought a rear disc assuming that one of those A2Z adaptors would fit my no mount frame, but I've now found out they wont!
Is there another option? Where are they available?
As a last option, can I buy ready made mounts that I can weld onto the frame? Possibly that's the best option, and should be the first option?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated![8D]

It's a Scott Chinoa Hardtail from about 1998ish
I sent pics of the rear dropout to a guy selling em on e-bay, and he said because the dropouts aren't flat, it wont fit!
It's a 7005 Alloy frame, if that helps?0 -
Aluminium frame plus welding post manufacturing is not a good idea.
TBH due to its age i'd look for a new frame.
You can get a new Brand-X XC frame for only œ80.

IIRC aluminium starts to weaken over age,
So i would just buy a new frame, unless you are very attached to it.
You could see if you could swap your dics brakes for some hyrdaulic rim brakes

What is this with the whole aluminium weakening over age business?? I've never heard of it untill recently (well, and a very long time ago, before they started using aircraft alloy to make bikes)
There are fighter planes still being used that were manufactured from aluminium in the 60s for god's sake!
I have a Raceface air-alloy riser bar which is god knows how old, but it's lifetime guaranteed. Surely they wouldn't do that if it had a limited lifespan?
