Hi,
I have just got my bike back from being fixed after I wore out the bearings, cones etc. I took it to mammoth lifestyle in Stafford about 3 weeks ago and they said that it would be done within a few days. When i rang to see if it was ready, they said they were still awaiting the parts from their supplier. I thought okay, as much as I cant go out, I suppose that it's not their fault. Next week I rang and they said the same thing. And again the next week. They also didn't return 3 phone calls that they said they would, so in the end I went and got the wheel back. I then took it to another store and they told me that I needed a new set of bearings, cones and cups, and showed me the damage. He said that if I had got it done by mammoth and got the parts they said that I needed I would have back within a few days of riding, neding a new wheel. Thankfully he fixed it within 15-20mins and I'm ready to go out tomorrow. What i was wondering is has anyone else had an experience like this with them, or is it just me that got unlucky???
Phil

Good shop and nice guys who know their stuff. I won't ask who the other shop are, but I can guess.
Mammoth are the best independent shop in the area and they're not in the business of cocking about. If their suppliers are being difficult then they're in a sticky place.
Other bikeshops are always quick to say "The other shop would have broken your bike", it's what keeps gullible customers coming back.

I'd have to agree with Alex on this.
Only being in to Mammoth twice after initially going on the recommendation of another rider. Both times have been on the recieving end of some excellent service and will be back next time I need something.
AFAIK the guy who owns it was a professional roadie a while back.

Gary Foord's the owner. He's won a world cup XC race. He runs the british cycling XC team, and the spesh XC team, ie Killeen.
There's also Andy Ward, who used to run the mountaincycle DH team amongst other things. Top bloke.

So they generally know what they are talking about with bikes then you'd say?
