Help me choose a new bike please! :D

I hate to make a 'what bike' topic (sorry [:p]), but I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to this sort of thing and am in need of a fair bit of advice. [:)]
I'm looking to buy a nice all-round hardtail in the near future. As a rider, I like to do a little bit of everything - I like riding downhill tracks, (lightish) cross-country, singletrack, and the occasional bit of dirt jumping - and whatever new bike I buy will need to be able to cope with all these things. I'd presume that some sort of freeride hardtail would suit me best? [?]
I have a budget of around œ500-œ600, but I could probably go a little higher than that if it's necessary. So are there any bikes out there that fit my needs? Please help a newb - all help will be greatly appreciated! [:D]

I have a Specialized Hardrock Pro which is œ550 and it's. I'm not just saying it because I've got one but i absolutely LOVE IT.

you probaly need more of an AM bike, as said above the spesh p.3 all mountain fits the bill.

You're all wrong. Marin Northside trail and get the shop to do you a deal and upgrade the brakes to shimano deore for an extra œ100. You'll love the bike and its spot on for what you wana do.

well no because that would be a sixth of his budget blown on his breaks straight away,
go for the p3.0 -
The Specialized p.3 does look like the sort of thing that I'd like, but at œ799 I'm doubtful that I could buy it... [:(] If I manage to muster up eight hundred quid (which is unlikey), I've done some research and found the Norco Sasquatch - anyone got anything good to say about this or would the Spesh be a better bet? [:)]
Not sure about the Kona Stuff... seems ok but doesn't excite me. [|)]
Anymore suggestions? Is œ500-œ600 a realistic budget?0 -
I've heard good things about the Sasquatch, never actually ridden one, but hey, thats beside the point [:p]
Nah, the Norco or the Spesh sound good to me, the Stuff looks good but itsn't as well specced as the Spech I don't think

'06 Scott Voltage YZ2

At the moment, I'd probably choose the Sasquatch over the p.3, but it is quite a bit above my budget and I don't think I can afford it. [:(]0

Go for a Scott Voltage it's an all round hardtail and it can take some punishment
