Computer VS Bike

Shall i upgrade my computer or buy a frame and build up a bike?
Bearing in mind i want to start DH and have limited to no access to DH around here with out a car.
Or not to my knowledge. (live in Guildford)
What i was thinking was to -
Upgrade my computer for the moment,
Then save for a car,
Then build up a bike.
Because then i can get to Decent Dh tracks.
YAY or NAY?

Car, bike, computer.
Car - You'll need it to get around.
Bike - You want to try DH.
Computer - Does your computer _really_ need upgrading?

You're better off saving seeing as œ300 won't get you a bike or a car and only limited PC upgrades.

you would have to be a g33kz0r of the highest order to upgrade your computer at the start of the summer. Besides that, Crysis and HL2 ep.2 aren't out yet so theres no need to be upgrading anyway.
Sort your bike first.

Upgrades to computers are never really worth it unless they're <œ10.

crysis comes out in july iirc.
unless they pushed the dates back.
Why not check sdh for a cheap dh rig? then car, then pc [:)]
The odds of winning some pretty good money would be fairly high with œ300 worth of lottery tickets though. [;)]

Look at it this way......
....I use a hand me down from my beloved (much respected) Nan.
It is a 1.2ghz Sony VAIO.
I run my 360 live through it, video edit, do everything I want on the net, play DVD's and can do pic uploading and it syncs with my palm top (which is worth more than the PC).
Do you need an upgrade or do you need to sit down one day and clear your hardrive of stagnant stuff, keep your desktop clean, do some speed mods to your config.sys and startup?
I would go for----
SERVICE car, new bike, forget the new PC.
You need a car to keep job to earn money to get bike and work will always have a better PC so give up.
Thats my nugget of gold.Too enthusiastic about biking for my friends...want to ride somewhere in the SE? TELL ME!!! hamsterscanswim@hotmail.com - and yes they can!0 -
Config.sys? holy crap are you still running windows 95 or 98? That is a hand-me down!
You speak the truth though, unless you want to play games, then pretty much any computer will do.

œ300 will get you a decent cpu, mobo, memory and graphics card. For œ265 I got:
Althon X2 3800+
2 gigs of kingston cheapo DDR2 ram (fast enough tho in a dual channel config)
Gefore 7600 (again fairly nippy, might add another before the summer's out)
An SLI mobo of some description.
That can comfortably cope with fear with everything switched on at 1024 x 768 with 4xAA and 8x AF

Well at the minute, my comp specs are:
e6300 - 2.9Ghz
7900GTO 705/750
GEiL RAM 1gb pc2 - 6400 running at ~845 - 4-4-4-12
DS3 Rev 3.3.
So its not bad at all, but i'd be looking for going Quad core, and with some pc2-8500 2gb ram, Then later on a new PSU and some sort of DX10 graphics card.
Other tahn that, i'd build up a big hit. [:)]

Sounds like a good sys. Wouldn't waste time on current quad core chips at the moment. They're not a lot quicker than the dual core jobbies and are really really power hungry. The intel quad core dealy has a TDP of 130w. That's going back to the bad old days of the P4.

and you want to upgrade that? tbh you're best off sticking with that. mabye upgrade the ram and gfx card. nvidia 8800 and corsair xms2
Happy camper - For œ200 i got
5200+
3gb ram
DFI lanparty UT mobo
Then i went and spent nearly œ300 on an nvidia 7950gx2. Now i can't help but think i shouldn't have wasted my money. what with the 8800 out.

Heh. Life's a biaaaaaaatch! I guess. I find that being a generation behind the latest stuff anyway is a lot easier on the mind. That way, when the latest stuff comes out you just end up being 2 generatoins rather 1 behind.

AMD offer better performance/price at the mo. Just.

I can get a Bighit Frame for œ250, thats why it hink it would work out cheaper. Probably wrong in EVERY SENSE, but there we go.
@HzzzC: So my Overclocked e6300, will not prefor as well as RSUs AMD?

Depends how far you OC it. The E6300 is roughly similar in performance to the 4400+ when not overclocked. If you get a good E6300, you can easily overclock it to E6600 levels and beyond with some serious cooling.
