Sounds kinda like escrow.
He gives you more than you need, you take the money, think its cleared, it hasn't, he wins.
Run away!
If its by ebay, only do it cash or paypal. Can't lose.

It's a scam. Can't quite remember how it works but it's something like this:
They'll pay you far too much money, like hundreds of pounds, and then ask for some of it back. They won't pay by cheque but some sort of money transfer. The money transfer/ cheque thing will bounce but your bank won't find out for a few days because it's from abroad (Ireland, in this case). You're supposed to send the extra money back, which is actually your money because a few days after you do this the bank discovers that the money transfer/ cheque thing bounced higher than Rubbergirl and you're left hundreds of pounds out of pocket and without your frame to boot.
That's about the bones of it anyway. Do not do business with this person.
Even if it's not a scam his grammar's terrible and he doesn't deserve your frame.0 -
deffo scam, look in 'off topic' you'll see what i mean

Have you noticed these scammers always have a typical first name for a surname?0
-
they also always call themselves 'Mr' whatever. or sometimes 'Doctor'! Does anyone genuine ever do this? Do you? Do I? No. We say Jake Smith or Tom Cooper etc0

yes thats a scam, I recently had the misfortune of dealing with this exact same thing. I hasten to add I did not go through with it. I received a cheque from Ukraine, thinking it was from someone in UK. The cheque was from the "inland revenue" in south wales. the alarm bells began to ring. The " buyer " did not even ask for a picture of my bike, so was obviously not interested in it at all and was only after the money from the rebate on the cheque. I think its time for mbuk forum to stop this form of classified ads where the buyer e mails the seller and do it openly on the forum like, dare I say it, descent world and southern downhill. This way only forum members will be buying. Needless to say I will not be advertizing anything on this forum.0

It's a scam where either they send you a fake cheque, which will bounce after you've sent the goods, leaving you out of pocket and out of money, or it's scam where they over pay you with a fake cheque, and ask you to send the money back in cash. The cheque bounces, and again you have nothing.
