...would you notice the difference if your daughter put either just "love" or just "from" on a Father's Day card?

This is the Father who doesn't talk to me and got married to his new wife without me and my brother but invited the rest of the family.

Have you spoke to him as to why you wern't invited to the wedding? Don't go into it if you don't want. But there are other factors as to why some dads aint around.

However. Not meaning to tell you how your family is and from what you said, he's not worth the "love". Really depends why you asked this question in the first place...
A, You don't want to offend him, even though he does you.
B, You want to spite him.

I personaly would notice.

i gave up sending cards a lonnnngggggg time ago dad fucked off when was four well you're not geting cards now mister lol, just happens I'm quite happy without a dad and not on jeremy kyle yet. I think anyone who blames their problems on run away parents are twats

About March last year me and him fell out but then made up, we fell out because as he'd not seen me for ages he decided to tell me he was getting married by texting me which I personally thought was inappropriate, i had no problem with his wife to be really but then she said a lot of nasty things to me. Me and him had a talk via the phone and made up and then I just never heard from him again, I haven't seen him since Christmas 2005.

The only thing he's said to me since is via text message that I was nasty and inconsiderate because when I sent a Christmas card i just put his name on and not his new wifes and her children, and that was by text message.

I justed wanted to know if it was a major thing to change it to from instead of love.

Ok he sounds like a nob to me, and this is (breifly)why.

One main problem for him is trying to start a new family (whilst trying to stay a part of his first one). If his new wifeys got beef with you, he's got to side with someone. TBH it looks like he's choosen and can't be bothered to make the effort on yourself as new wife (lets call her biatch for now) is only going to give him greif for it. I'm sure at the end of the day he didn't mean for it to be like this, but show him what he's showing you. Send him a half arsed text, with "from".

Don't be spiteful, don't hold grudges.

Even if he acts like a twat towards you, he's still your dad. You only get your parents for a short amount of time. Don't waste it.

My real dad hasnt had contact with me in years, ok it was through courts, they said he could only send letters and presents, i'd hear from him, then 6 months later, i'd hear from him again.

It started to annoy me that when my nan died he sent a card to us with "get well soon" soon write on it, and then there was the other one when my niece was born to my sister saying "congratulations you have a grand dauaghter"

I have never sent him a card only the one he has sent us, that i have riped up and sent back.

Kitty, if i was and that was my dad, i honestly would only put from, but then again its totally your choice. [:D]

He probably already does, Any decision to move on with a new family can't have been easy. But at the same time what can you expect from a daughter you largley ignore and only communicate with by moden societies least personal form of contact.

I was 11, so the courts thought i was old enough to make my own mind up. I decided therewas no way, to be honest i dont really have any fond memeries of my real dad, all the bad ones over ride the few i have.

I'm not a parent (but plan to be), but my folks did split up when I was 12, they both moved on, My father even went on to have a couple of children with his new wife.

But, I didn't hear about it via a text message. It's terrible when someone feels the need to alienate a child from a partners previous marriage. Thankfully it's more common for new partners to embrace someones exisiting family even to the point of becoming additional parent figures if it's appropriate.

Kitty, I hate to be the one to say it, but no matter what his new wife thinks the fact of the matter is you're still your Fathers daughter, and she needs to just accept that and act her age rather than using you as a tool to flex her muscle.

I don't know the whole series of events that led to this and no one here ever will. But, if you want to send him a card, cool, good on you, be the bigger person, but sending a card filled with little barbs is just putting you on their \ her level.

Life's too short and regrets have a habit of sticking around for ages.

I've seen a friend of mine "adopt" his ex partners kids to the point where he still goes to their parents evenings and they still call him "Dad", they've long split up but he still sees them twice a week without fail. He's just had his own daughter with somoeone else but it will be a cold day in hell before he freezes his "adopted" kids out.

Makes you think doesn't it?

Parents are idiots. They're doing this for the first time and 99% are no more mature than the rest of us. That's pretty damaging when you're a kid. You expect these people to get stuff right 100% of the time and then they go and fuck it royally up.

Now you're grown up a bit, try to understand that they're as falliable, selfish and dumb as the rest of us.

Make an effort to be mature and level headed where they're not.

Different circumstances I know but I really struggled yesterday to find a card that said 'Dad, you're difficult'.

I have a difficult relationship with my father and it's in a very different way to you Kitty but I am still going to struggle to show him appreciation on Sunday.

What is the reason that you 'Have to' send him a card, if you don't mind me asking?
