Are you sure you can still take your helmet in your hand luggage? Tried ringing the airport but nobody seems to want to pick up. Packed everything else now more or less, I'd rather take my Helmet as hand luggage, but I don't want to get to security and be told I can't take it on.

Take your helmet as hand luggage. Do not allow yourself to be seperated from it at ANY cost. If needs be, put your hand luggage through as checked luggage and carry the helmet on board. You've got to trust your skull to it, so don't trust it to baggage handlers.
You're allowed to take a laptop plus hand luggage so there's no reason not to take a helmet plus hand luggage.
I've found security staff to be very understanding about taking helmets as hand luggage in the past.
Do not wear it.

If you had a hardshell suitcase, then you could get away with it.
But since you're flying with your bike there's no chance of you being able to afford to take a hardshell suitcase. It really must stay in your hands.

If there's a way to fuck stuff up, baggage handlers will find it.
Wrap your bike in cotton wool.

All in your hand luggage, unless you want to go overweight.

The bikes going in a bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, with pipe insulation under that around the frame, and I'm chucking a couple of pillows in there as well as. Weight should'nt be a problem as it's already been upped to accomodate the bikes. Bike wise everyting is coming of it, discs, mech, pedals, etc etc. Just hope it comes back out the other side.
