does this sound like a dumb idea?

so - recently had the accident, wanted to sell off the Base and be done with it.

then - inspiation strikes.

1 - remove Middleburn RS7 cranks from Base, buy 4-hole spider, put them on Giant AC, thereby creating some kick-ass mountain cranks

2 - get the Base sprayed matt black; no decals

3 - buy a 2nd hand 100mm suspension fork

4 - run the BB7 on the back of the Base

5 - put the red anodised Bontrager Racelites on the Base

6 - build up the Base as a single-speed street bike with a higher front end than before thereby giving me a tidy little, single brake hardtail for knobbing about on in a streety-kinda-way...

yay?/nay?

nay. you'll break yourself still. imho street's like urban-trials only faster and bigger

I was thinking the same thing, if you were planning on selling the bike because you had enough and don't want to get injured again, then keeping the bike and starting to ride street would be just as bad, there is still the chance.. even more so, of falling off and getting injured again.

[Edit] Then again.. you weren't actually riding trials when you bailed.. it was just unlucky you hit the curb.

As alex says. you can break yourself on anything, personally, i'd get back on the <s>horse</s> bike and ride. but the street bike sounds cool [:)]

Spend the money on body armour? You are still going to want to ride trials/street no matter what changes you make to your bike. That's who you are. If you have to wait 6 months till you feel upto it again adapting the bike for some slightly different riding may be wise, but as has been said - street is hardly anyless tell me you love me.

oh - i'm already spending $140 on a 661 Core Saver! and i wear Race Knee/Shin pads anyways, but the core saver is going on EVERY time i ride from here on! [:O]
