You may have heard that a new site is on the way - http://www.bikeradar.com . Not only will it be the world's best source of bike and gear reviews, news, results and routes, it will also have the best forums on the net.

The good news is you won't have to re-register on the new forums so you will keep your current username*.

We will be carrying over existing posts to the new forums. But unlike the current system where all posts are lost after a month, meaning sometimes that valuable information is lost, the new system will archive all posts.

You will have the choice to see both mountain bike and Road forum sections, or specify mountain biking or Road. In fact, you will be able to select favourite sections from each of the forums if you choose.

We've decided to combine duplicate sections of the MBUK and WMB forums - they both contain similar content and sharing the knowledge of both audiences will benefit everyone. So, there'll be one MTB Workshop section, one MTB General section, one MTB Beginners section etc.

There will be MBUK and WMB-specific sections, namely: MBUK Sandbox, Meet the Forumites. WMB Arms.

The MTB forum will still have the riding-specific sections from MBUK including XC/DH/Street/Trials etc.

We will be telling you lots more about the new site in the coming days in the meantime if you have any questions post them here or email us [click on 'Email Poster' above].

*In the event of duplicate user names we will contact users to re-register
Please note; that you shuld NOT go to the other forums now to register your username so you carry it over to the new system - this is likely to cause problems when we are migrating the data. So if you're registered as JoeSmith on the MBUK forum, don't go to the C+ and WMB forums to register JoeSmith.

I think that this is crap, there will be so much confusion over different people and I think that you should just make everyone reregister.

I think it is much better if everyone is forced to reregister. It is a new forum, things should start from new. Plus it saves all the BS of sorting out people with duplicate usernames.

I think getting people to reregister is a stupid idea. peope will grab other people's name's just for kicks

It would be a daft idea to make everyone re-register. They will be carrying over the thousands of people onhere and the other forums who registered but never use it, this increases the 'total members' by a MASSIVE amount, and means that it'll cost more for people to advertise on it, and thusly, they'll make more money.

Also, and of course this is purely hyperthetical what if someone, for example an established member of the MBUK forum accidently seemed to have more than one membership account on possibly one or two of the Forums?

Would all of <s>my</s> those other accounts be transfered over to the new Forum?

I hounestly don't think we need to keep the "meet the forumites" section. It died a long time ago.

What if you have posts on each of the forums? Do you add them all up or just give people the highest one of the 3?
