It did amuse me when my mates CBR125 was quicker off the line than my car, yet its engine is a tenth of the size of mine!

    It won't do 100mph.

It is nippy up to 20mph, but after that, the standard 1.2 punto is painfully slow and handles like tank, unless you have the "city steering"

I don't/haven't had one by the way, but I've driven one on several occassions.

they arent bad if you want a car. if its a punto you're after, i'd go for the 1.6 version, albeit still not that punchy.

and it being 60bhp, must be an 8v. i know my clio, a 1.15 is 75bhp, and the new corsas are 1.2 80bhp.

and 0-60 in 14 seconds, my mums 1 litre micra is faster than that lol.

[edit]OK... OK i meant my mums micra, 0-60 in 15.7[/edit]

  • Maybe he wanted a 1.2 for the cheap insurance! It'll get you round anyway, which is the main thing.

Yeah there were a couple of reasons i bought it - the fact it cost œ1000 when those puntos go for 1500 - 2000 (bought it from grandparents), the small engine means its cheap to insure, and its in perfect nick. It is bloody slow though, you are right.

Or dont, as they are still stuipidly expensive to insure.

for me, next year, with 2 years NCB and having my licence nearly 4 years, i would still be expected to pay œ1400+ for a 2 litre petty, few hundred quid less for a 2 litre diesel.

I paid œ1600 3rd party on my BMW, but that was with 0 no claims and licence held for 0 years. Its now œ775 including business use, 20,000 miles per year and a 2nd driver so 1 year no claims can make a sizeable difference.
