..Anyone got a Line 6 Variax?

Any good?

And is the 700 worth about œ500 more than the 300?

I've played one for a bit. It was a lovely feeling guitar and I think if you were a live performer then it would be perfect. With the range of great tones at your fingers it really does suit a live set up.

Studio? Forget it. Much like the Line 6 amps (I have a flextone III), they sound false in some way. Its impressively sensitive to changes in pick dynamics but not in the same was as a decent Strat etc.

As for the 700 over the 300, it also depends on your view on the importance of aesthetics. The 300 does look very plastic and cheap compared to the really very good looking 700. Gorgeous in Trans Blue.

Cheers. It would be mostly for the studio, and I was wondering what I would get out of it that I cant get with the guitars I have....

Much rather get an old, well made guitar than one that just has fancy wiring, if thats just the case. And I think the aesthetics are about the only significant difference between them. The 700 will be made from a decent bit of mahogany, but with all the electronic in it, I dont know how much difference it'll make. But yea, the 700 are teh sex.

That's the thing with the variax. The wood doesn't add anything to the tone. It just seems a bit wrong to me when you consider the lengths Suhr and Anderson go to to pick out the perfect specimin woods.
