n00b - cassette doesn't fit right

i have a new set of mavic crossride 2007 wheels, and a new shimano 9 speed cassette, but the cassette doesn't fit right. the cassette fits on the freewheel, and the little sprocket does up, but not far enough to stop the cassette from moving. i'm guessing i have a ten speed freewheel. or am i just doing it wrong?
thanx!

this is the cassette http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... odelID=548 and these are the wheels http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=15754
the cassette was shrink wrapped and looked unopened when i got it.0 -
well something must be missing.
LX cassettes do not normally come shrink wraped. they normally come in a plastic bag in a box. with the plastic carefully folded.

my dt swiss hub with the same cassette did that need a very thin spacer on it to stop the rattle how much play u got?0
-
about 2 to 3 mm end float. i'll look out my calipers and measure it.
the cassette came as: the main cassette, two small sprockets and a lock nut with crush washer. the smallest sprocket only has the splines going about half way through the casting, so will only slide so far on.
it does sound like i'm missing something.0 -
just measured it and it's 1.1mm to 3mm depending if i have the nut loose or done up tight. so i guess i need a 1.5mm or 2mm spacer. any idea where i would get one?
cheers all for the help so far, it is appreciated!

That's the exploded view.
See if something's missing.
If it is take it to where you bought it from.
WD-40? GT-85?? I'd rather use the old AK-47!0 -
FWIW, ten speed freehubs are the same as 9-speed ones.

in the lower of the 2 exploded views the inner lose cog is flat sided hence the need of the spacer. in the top they boyh have shoulders and no spacer needed.

awesome, thank you rocha! mine's the ar group and everything is present and correct. if i had the sprocket spacer (no 7 from the bottom one), i think it would fit.
could i just have the wrong cassette for the freewheel? or does it not work like that? (sorry, n00b....)0 -
posted before reading the previous 2 posts. if a 10sp and 9sp freehub are the same, the spacer is only needed because the gear is flat sided and i have all the bits, i don't have a clue what i am doing wrong.0
-
there is no difference in width between an 8spd and a 9spd cassette.
but yes a spacer is needed. i am just wondering if there should be one on the freehub already.
