Comprehensive MTB travel insurance

Iv looked all over the web, none of the providers seem to cover for, and I quote; "Downhill Racing and Exreme Terrain". Now I dont race, but when I go off to Morzine, the only un-extreme terrain I plan to be riding is to and from the gondolas.

Does anyone know of a insurance company that covers for this? I cant seem to find any myself.

On the other hand, I could just go with the insurance offered to me by Alpine elements, but it doesnt seem to be too good, with only œ1500 for sports equipment. My bike is worth, new, about œ2500 So Im looking for my own.

Thanks in advance.

    Seconded.

Your bike won't be covered for damage by ANY company, so it doesn't matter what kind of terrain you're riding it on. You'll only get cover for theft/loss.

I know, its not damage to the bike Im worried about, Im more worried about damage to me.

Thats where the comprehensive comes in, I want higher cover for the bike if it gets nicked and me if I come off...

  • I use Fortis. They are pretty comprehensive. They are one of the few that even cover off-piste skiing so I would assume it would be ok for DH.
This link shows the accepted sports cover (page 9).

Snowcard are good and their level 3 covers alpine DH. You'll struggle to get cover for bikes over œ1500 unless you get cover through house insurance. Ive insured mine this way for a month in the alps @ œ3000 for œ15. Some hostels do suffer from break ins so it does give peace of mind.
Alpine elements cover is crap like their customer service!

All i will say about E&L read all the small print and makesure you comply with everything. even if it says your middle name has to be Tit to qualify to claim.

and they have some very impresive offices.
