Hi Guys,
I bought a T I drive for 130 but knew it needed a bit of work, i took it to my local bike shop to give it a serice, fix a few little bits and bobs so i will be away.
Went to pick it up today, poss needed a new centre piece where the pedals are (dont know a lot about terminology yet), a new derailler, new cables for brakes and gears, new spindle for rear wheel.
I tried to ride the bik and it wouldnt brake and wont turn the cogs, the chain keeps on slipping, the guy said because it has a new chain the centre 3 cog pedal piece has gone so needs a new one so he is putting one on. I cant believe it it is costing me so much money i would hav ben beter buying a new one!!
this is what i wanted to ask you guys about, the front brake keeps on sticking, the guy said this is because the sprig inside is going and so whe the brake goes on i will not cme off, is this an eas job to sort yourself as he wanted a oad more money for labour charges. Also he said the brakes have been adjusted but the brake levers i have on the bike are not the right ones for disk brakes and so they pull ight through to the handle bars, he says realy i need some new levers and this would come with new gear changers, is this correct and if so how much??
So in summary, i was wondering hw muh to fix the brake and how muc for some levers for a bike with disk brakes??
Thank you for letting me have my rant, i am ust pissed off that i will have spend about œ250 on a bike that is 5 years ld, has scratches al over it and realy needs a corr blimey load more money spending on it when i could have had a new one (al e it not an i drive) for about 20 quid.
Cheers guys
Mike

Are your shifters built into your brake levers?

Sounds like you bought a minter!!0

if the brakes are cable discs' then any levers should work, just pull the cable through the caliper more. i think your LBS is pulling your leg!

It was a real minter!!! When i heard, GT I Drive 5, 130, needs a few little bits but not a lot i thought bargain, now i think, what i pile of corr blimeye!! The guy still has the bike now, he is still trying to fix the little things, it was wierd that the brakes worked but they were very spongee, they stopped but kept on pullig thorough, if i change the cable and put it through the caliper more this should fix it right??
As soon as it is rideable it is going on e bay and i will either buy new or buy from someone on here, not one that needs any work!!
Cheers guys
