at the moment i have shimano stx rc cranks (4 bolt) i have removed the little and middle and put the big ring in the middle and fitted a chain device. with 7 gears at the back the bike feels heavy and hard to pedel. what would be ideal number of teeth to have?

Most people go with 36-38 for general riding.

But also save up and buy a middleburn one because they are great. If you can't stretch, betd goldtec have a sale on their DH rings still i think, which are very good as well.

BETD ones are good, just worth checking if they have the one you want in.
I wanted a 44t one to replace my soft cheese Shimano one on my Saints but they'd run out of that size.
Pity really because œ15 for a top quality chainring is a bargain.Dave S0 -
