My mate is looking at a range of possible buys, one of which is the Felt Q920 Disc 2007. The spec looks good, but neither of us know anything about that manufacturer, such as is the frame any good? Help would be appreciated, cheers. Link below.

They came back in to the MTB market a few years ago. They had been making BMXs before that I believe.

I have a felt and i can safely say they are one of the best frames in terms of looks and strength...They use some special manufacturing technique or something. Great for building up a better rig around the frame.

They do come with pretty bad tyres though so i would advise buying some better ones.

When in Evans cycles this evening we asked for the guys opinion on Felt bikes, and he said that he wasnt sure but he said the management of the store were trying their hardest not to stock them anymore. Anyone know why that might be?

they always get rated ok in the mag reviews ive seen, however one point that is always raised is that they seem to have low bottom brackets

this is gonna sound stupid of me but why is that a problem?

because its then easier to catch the bottom of the frame, or the pedals etc when going over small bumps

if the bottom bracket is only 11" from the ground for example, and the pedal arm is 7" long, that leaves you only 4" clearance from the ground

oh right, makes sense i suppose! surely the difference between that and other bikes cant be that big? they are very nice looking bikes, and the spec seems ok but the forks arent as good as on other bikes of that price. i think. anyway, car broke this morning so might hsve to go on hold anyway!
